Frequently Asked Questions

Where might I find the schedule of events?

-Preview booklet; mailed to student in the middle of June
-Scroll down to the 'Schedule' link!

When do things officially begin?
-For students? Orientation Kick off at 7:30pm in Edman Chapel Thursday, August 21
-For Parents? Parent Gathering and Welcome at 7:30pm Thursday, August 21
-Check-in anytime between 10am-6pm on Thursday, August 21

When do things officially end for parents?
-9:30pm on Saturday, but parents are welcome to stay through Sunday to attend church as a family (Big Sibs however will be going downtown at 2pm on Sunday, which is something students won't want to miss)

Should siblings come to Orientation?
-This is a difficult question to answer, and we leave this decision to the parents. Since Orientation programming is geared towards students and parents, siblings often feel out of place. Plus, siblings may feel awkward tagging along to a student mixer, or have difficulty finding a parent information session interesting. We do encourage siblings to visit during family weekend (November 7-8)

Is there a fee for Orientation?
-No, there is no fee for parents or students for orientation

Is Orientation Mandatory?
-Yes, for freshman
-No, for transfers (however, we strongly encourage transfers to participate, as we have planned Orientation with specifically transfers in mind as well as freshman. Transfers not participating are required to arrive on campus by Monday, August 25 at 10:00am)

When does the meal plan begin?
-all new students can begin eating on their meal plan as of lunch on Thursday
-New students should use their orientation name tags as their meal ticket until their regular ID will officially work

What about meals for the families?
Parents can purchase meal tickets at Anderson Commons (cost varies -- check with Parent and Community Relations or Bon Appetit) or help themselves to the food offered in the Beamer Student Center. The only meal tickets that can't be purchased from Anderson Commons are the Parents Dinner tickets (Friday, August 22). The Parents Dinner is a catered meal, sponsored by the Parents Council. Parents should purchase for this meal at the parents program tables in the Welcome Center. Look in the information packets from the welcome center to find off campus restaurants.

Where can students ship their belongings prior to classes beginning?
-Should students need to ship belongings to school, they should be addressed to CPO in general (until they receive their assigned number) with their name, NEW STUDENT, and 1 of __, so that Postmaster Jeff Peltz will know how many to expect.
-New students will receive a CPO box assignment sometime over the summer
-The Address should look as follows

Adam Temple CPO 2643
501 College Avenue
Wheaton, IL 60187

When can I arrive?
-If not arriving early due to Wheaton Passage, Athletics, or the Conservatory, new students should arrive any time between 10:00 AM-6:00 PM on Thursday, August 21.
