Smith-Traber Hall

Smith Hall

This hall features three floors of rooms configured as suites, which house 168 women. Built in 1961 and fully renovated in 1997, Smith is adjoined to Traber by a large lobby.

Women:
38 Four-person suites (2 double rooms)
5 RA suites 1 ARD room

Each room is equipped with:

  • a 36"X80" extra long mattress for each student
  • one bulletin board
  • six electrical outlets
  • one internet port per student (Resnet website)
  • air conditioning/forced air heat in each room
  • an RT London modular furniture system (mfs) that offers different lofting configurations with the dressers and desks (more info)
  • one wardrobe per student
  • one desk chair per student
  • a telephone
  • a wastebasket
  • miniblinds
  • carpet
  • mirror
  • one towel bar or hook per student

General information:

  • Average # of students per floor: 32
  • Room dimension: 16' X 11.5'
  • Window dimension: 50" X 73"
  • Closet dimensions: 22" depth x 40.5" width
  • 2 closets with regular doors
  • A central bathroom is located on each floor.
  • A central laundry room is shared by the entire building
  • Floor lounges are equipped with an ironing board.
  • Limited summer storage is available.
  • Limited indoor bike storage is available.
  • Outdoor bike racks are available during the academic year.
  • One vacuum is located on each floor.
  • Smith-Traber contains a hall kitchen shared by the entire building, which includes two stoves, a refrigerator, microwave, and minimal cooking utensils.
  • Also shared by the entire building are foosball/pool/ping pong tables, a copy machine, a Prayer Chapel, Quiet Study Room, 24 hour computer lab, conference room, and community TV lounge.
  • Halogen lamps and candles are not allowed.
  • Aquatic pets may be kept in standard-size aquariums; no other pets are permitted.

 

Traber Hall

Traber provides room for 240 residents in double and triple rooms on six floors. Built in 1970, it is Wheaton's newest hall and is adjoined to Smith by a large lobby. Its rooms are situated around a central bath and floor lounge, which enhances the sense of community among residents. Traber was refurbished in 1997 and is equipped with two elevators.

Men:
