Residence Life

Welcome to Residence Life at Wheaton College!  We’re excited for you to join our campus community.

The significance of living in community cannot be overestimated!  Ask graduates about their college years, and most will say that the closest relationships developed and the greatest lessons were learned in the context of residential living.

Along with attending classes, going to chapel and participating in activities outside the classroom, living on-campus is one of the four building blocks of a Wheaton student’s educational experience.  Together, these four building blocks help the College pursue its mission of developing students into whole and effective servants for Christ and His Kingdom.

We believe it is vital for students to be immersed in community living so that key life-to-life encounters may occur. In community living, students give and receive, are shaped by and contribute to campus life and are challenged to integrate learning with their choices.

Residential Philosophy & Policy
The philosophy of Residence Life is to foster a residence hall environment where students experience caring relationships with people serving one another and encouraging each other to seek Christ and apply His teaching/example.  When students move to campus houses and apartments or off-campus, our hope is that students will apply what they have experienced in the residence halls and intentionally foster caring relationships which reflect attitudes of service, a willingness to speak words of encouragement as well as to lovingly respond to breakdowns in integrity.

Because of its belief in the importance of residential living, Wheaton College requires all undergraduate students to live in campus housing.  Exceptions are made for married students, students living at home with their parents and students who attend the College on a part-time basis.

 

News & Updates

Those students who wish to apply for Off-Campus permission and did not attend the mandatory meeting on 2/25 may make up this requirement by attending one of the following sessions in MSC 202:
  • Tues. March 2 at 10:30am
  • Thur. March 4 at 7:00pm

Spring Break Housing
To submit a break housing request please fill out the form here.  The deadline for submitting a request is Monday, March 1st.

Summer Housing
Applications for on campus summer housing will be available in the Residence Life Office after spring break. If you plan to live on campus this summer, please ensure that you have applied for housing by Friday, April 23.
