Professor
Anderson was first attracted to the study of politics when the Berlin Wall collapsed and communist countries embarked on the construction of new political regimes. Her fascination with political transition and, for some countries in the region, democratization, led her to focus her graduate study and research on democratic theory and Central European politics. She studied Czech social policy for a year (2000-2001) in Prague, Czech Republic on a Fulbright Fellowship and returned to Prague in the summer of 2005 to begin a new research project on the creation of healthcare policy in other Central European states, with the Slovak Republic next on the list. Dr. Anderson is also interested in Central European states, the European Union, women in politics, and feminism.
Some of Dr. Anderson's favorite things are live music, traveling, and successfully growing flowers. She and her husband, Nate, a fiction and free-lance writer, are active members of a local church.
