The Board of Trustees of Wheaton College (IL) announces that Dr. Duane Litfin will retire from his position as president in mid-2010. Litfin, who assumed the presidency in 1993, is Wheaton’s seventh president since its founding in 1860.
“Wheaton College has thrived under Dr. Litfin’s leadership,” says Trustee Thomas C. Pratt. “Although we look toward his retirement with regret, we are confident that his Christ-centered commitment to develop a student body to serve the church and society will continue at Wheaton for years to come.”
Litfin’s tenure has seen the strengthening of Wheaton’s faculty, the addition of academic and sport facilities, an increase in scholarship funds, and currently under construction, a state-of-the-art science education facility.
The Board of Trustees has appointed a Presidential Selection Committee to conduct the search and selection process for Wheaton’s eighth president. For more information, visit www.wheaton.edu/presidentialselection.
