Wheaton composer David Van Schouwen presents a composition concert consisting of original concertos, on Sunday, October 14, 2007.
The concertos will be performed by the orchestral group, Wheaton Sinfonietta, conducted by Gregory Hughes. The music will feature soloists Julie Maura, viola; Anne Sullivan, flute; and David Van Schouwen, piano.
David Van Schouwen is an active Chicago-area pianist and composer. He graduated from Wheaton College in 1984, and has since presented many original instrumental works in concert, including an oboe sonata, piano sonatas, string quartets, wind trios and concertos for the piano, flute and viola. In 1990, his cantata, The Apostles’ Creed, premiered at Wheaton College. His oratorio, The Christ, was performed at Wheaton in three parts (1993, 1994, 1996). He currently serves as staff accompanist in the Wheaton Conservatory, and principal accompanist for the West Suburban Choral Union. He also performs regularly at Elmhurst College and Wunder Studios in Park Ridge, Illinois.
The concert is free of charge. It will take place in Pierce Memorial Chapel, on the Wheaton College campus, at 2:30 pm Sunday, October 14, 2007. The Chapel is located at the south east corner of Washington and Franklin streets in Wheaton.
