 The Artist Series at Wheaton College presents “Dance from the Caucasus,” the event formerly known as “A Festival of Russian Dance” at 8 pm Friday, October 12.
The evening will feature traditional music and dances celebrating the rich heritage of the states and provinces in the greater Russian plateau. Many of the dances reflect the importance of family in Russian culture, as they are performed in couples, often with the men competing for the women and engaging in impressive battles of physical demonstrations and complex movements. This living art is still exciting today. In the words of musical director Anatoli Kvasov, “The Ensemble strives to present the folk traditions it performs not only as beautiful relics of the past, but also as the living art of the present.”
The concert is in partnership with McCormick Tribune Foundation and Community Bank—Wheaton/Glen Ellyn. It will be held in Edman Memorial Chapel, located on the northeast corner of Washington and Franklin streets in Wheaton.
 Individual tickets range from $31 to $48. Discounts are available for seniors (60+), students, and groups of 20 people or more. Seven- and four-concert subscriptions are also available. To reserve your seats, contact the Ticket & Information Office at 630.752.5010 or www.artistseries.org.
