Grammy Award winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo to open Artist Series season

Ladysmith Black Mambazo is bringing the stirring sounds of South Africa to The Artist Series at Wheaton College on September 22. Come hear this amazing blend of native Zulu musical traditions with Christian gospel music and some American favorites.

Grammy Award winning group Ladysmith Black Mambazo opens Artist Series at Wheaton College fall seasonThe intricate harmonies of Ladysmith Black Mambazo has earned the group a dozen Grammy nominations, and two Grammy Awards. Mambazo has recorded with Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, Josh Groban, Dolly Parton, Ben Harper, Mavis Staples, The Wynans, The Coors and George Clinton. The group has provided soundtrack material for Disney's The Lion King Part II, Eddie Murphy's Coming To America, and James Earl Jones' Cry The Beloved Country. Mambazo performed for the Queen of England and the Royal Family, Pope John Paul II, South African Presidential inaugurations, the 1996 Summer Olympics, and many music award shows around the world. The concert, in partnership with McCormick Tribune Foundation and Central DuPage Hospital, will be September 22 at 7 pm in Edman Memorial Chapel, located on the northeast corner of Washington and Franklin streets in Wheaton.

Individual tickets range from $31 to $48. Discounts are available for seniors (60+), students, and groups of 20 people or more. Seven- and four-concert subscriptions are also available. To reserve your seats, contact the Ticket & Information Office at 630.752.5010 or www.artistseries.org.
