Dr. Barbara Reynolds, biographer and scholar of Dorothy L. Sayers, became the first recipient of the Clyde S. Kilby Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Marion E. Wade Center of Wheaton College.

The award ceremony took place during the opening banquet of the annual conference of the Dorothy L. Sayers Society, held at Wheaton College this summer. Dr. Reynolds received the honor in person on June 13, 2007, coincidentally the date of her own birthday and that of Dorothy Sayers. In honor of Dr. Reynolds’ contributions to Sayers scholarship, Dr. Christopher Mitchell, Wade Center Director, presented her with a check for $2500 and a certificate of achievement.
The Clyde S. Kilby Lifetime Achievement Award is presented on an occasional basis as worthy candidates are identified by the Marion E. Wade Center. The purpose of this award is to recognize and honor those rare individuals whose work on one or more of the Wade Center authors is exceptional in quality and has made a lasting and irreplaceable contribution to Wade-related scholarship. In brief, this award was given to Dr. Barbara Reynolds in response to the question: “Where would Sayers scholarship be today, without the efforts of this particular individual?”
The Marion E. Wade Center of Wheaton College, Illinois is a special library and archives featuring the works of seven British authors: Owen Barfield, G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, Dorothy L. Sayers, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Charles Williams.
