To celebrate Earth Day, Wheaton College, with partner sponsors Chicago Area Clean Cities Coalition and Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, invites the public to the 2008 Alternative Fuel Vehicle Exposition Tuesday, April 22nd, from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm on the campus of Wheaton College. Come explore the latest in alternative fuel vehicles, hear about the future of transportation, and enjoy an environmentally responsible lunch.
Participants are once again invited to take a test drive of the alternative fuel vehicles we will have on hand throughout the event. The vehicles will be parked around the circle just south of the Todd M. Beamer Student Center (campus map), located at 501 College Avenue in Wheaton.
New this year, two seminars will be offered. From 11:00 to 11:45 am, “Alternative Fuels 101” will be presented by John Walton, Manager of Fleet Services for the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. From 1:00 to 1:45 pm, “Future of Alternative Vehicles” will be presented by Richard Gunther with GM, and Darwin Burkhart, with Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Both seminars will be held in the Phelps Room, located on the lower level of the Todd M. Beamer Student Center.
Bon Appetit, which provides food services for Wheaton College, will be hosting a free lunch for Expo attendees at noon. The lunch theme is Low Carbon Diet Day—featuring menu options that significantly reduce food-related contributions to climate change. “Did you know” signs will also be on display, educating eaters about high carbon foods such as bananas and beef.
This event is free and open to the public. RSVPs are required for the scheduled luncheon. Please RSVP to Gregory.S.Doty@wheaton.edu or call 630.752.5384.
