Beethoven's Fifth performed by Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

The Artist Series at Wheaton College presents the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in concert at 8 pm Thursday, January 17. The program features Beethoven’s monumental Fifth Symphony and Violin Concerto in D Major, Op.61.

Pinchas Zukerman to lead the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Wheaton CollegePerforming as violin soloist and conducting the orchestra is Pinchas Zukerman. Zukerman, a noted Israeli violinist and conductor, has recorded more than 100 works and has been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards, winning two. He is on the faculty at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music and is the head and founder of the Zukerman Performance Program at the school.

Founded in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham, with his vision of bringing world-class musical performances to his country, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra continues to maintain Beecham’s legacy by offering audiences the highest possible standards of music-making, accompanied by some of the most acclaimed artists of the day.

The London based orchestra has toured more than thirty countries in the last five years, including performances for the late Pope John Paul II in the Vatican and the President of China in Tiananmen Square.

The concert is in partnership with McCormick Tribune Foundation, Tyndale House Publishers Inc., and Airhart Construction Corporation. It will be held in Edman Memorial Chapel, located on the northeast corner of Washington and Franklin streets in Wheaton (campus map).

Individual tickets range from $33 to $53. Discounts are available for seniors (60+), students, and groups of 20 people or more. Seven- and four-concert subscriptions are also available.
