All sessions are free and open to the public. For more information, call 630.752.5487. Symposium sessions include:
- “In Conversation with Branford Marsalis,” 3:15 p.m. Friday, October 24 in Pierce Memorial Chapel (campus map).
- Saturday, sessions take place between 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Featured speakers include Greg Broughton, Associate Professor of Voice at the University of Georgia, Mellonee Burnim, Professor of Ethnomusicology and Folklore at Indiana University, and David Stowe, Associate Professor of American Thought and Language at Michigan State University.
- On Tuesday, October 28, a gospel Choir workshop with the Wheaton College Gospel Choir is offered from 4:15 to 6 p.m. in Barrows Auditorium.
In connection with the symposium, Wheaton is offering two concerts:
- The Artist Series presents Branford Marsalis and the Filharmonia Brasileira at 8 p.m. in Edman Memorial Chapel. Ticket prices range from $42–$48 for general admission with discounts for students and seniors over 60. - On Saturday, October 25 at 8 p.m. the Wheaton College Jazz Ensemble performs a concert in Barrows Auditorium, located in the Billy Graham Center at 500 College Avenue (campus map). Tickets cost $6 for general admission and $4 for students and seniors over 60. For more information, call the Conservatory of Music at 630.752.5099.
