Majoring in music is more than mastering your craft; it’s also about building a repertoire of practical skills that will set you up for professional and personal success, whether you pursue a career in music or not.
After graduation, Wheaton music majors go into education, music production, ministry, media, business, community benefit organizations, and other fields. Many will enter music- and performance-related graduate programs. Some go on to seminary or pursue law or professional school.
The Bachelor of Arts in Music enables you to pursue music study and performance in the context of the liberal arts, fully embracing the music resources of the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, while also taking advantage of the many strengths of the broader College. All music coursework is taught through the Conservatory of Music along with a core of General Education, upper-division, and elective courses from the Arts and Sciences.
The Conservatory of Music at Wheaton College also offers several other degree and major options in addition to the Music B.A., including:
B.M. in Performance: comprehensive music training that encourages the formation of performance artists who contribute to the Church and society. Concentrate in piano, organ, voice, or an orchestral instrument.
B.M. in Composition: geared toward developing skills and imagination necessary to create compelling music in a variety of professional contexts.
B.M. in Music History & Literature: focused on preparing students for further study in musicology or related fields.
B.M. in Pedagogy: designed for students interested in becoming a private studio music teacher; music pedagogy also serves as a solid foundation for graduate study.
B.M. in Music Education: prepares students to become certified to teach music in Illinois; focuses on choral and instrumental training.
B.M. with Elective Studies in an Outside Field: allows students to gain comprehensive training in music while gaining expertise in another area of study.

Wheaton College’s 90,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Armerding Center for Music and the Arts is home to a 650-seat concert hall, a 108-seat recital hall, digital recording studies, and other learning, gathering, and rehearsal spaces. Other venues include the 2,400-seat Edman Chapel, the 900-seat auditorium in Pierce Chapel, and the 500-seat Barrows Auditorium.

-- Eliénaï (Eli) Ouoba ’23“Studying at Wheaton College has provided me with many unique opportunities to seek the Lord among a broad, diverse Christian community.”
Eliénaï (Eli) Ouoba '23 started playing worship drums when he was eight and picked up orchestral percussion in middle school. He also picked up a love for programming along the way. Today, Eli explores the intersection of these two fields, studying both music and computer science at Wheaton College. He hopes to use technology to help engage with the world and solve problems.
Born in Burkina Faso, Eli grew up in United States, in Michigan and Illinois -- where his father earned his Ph.D. at Wheaton College.
