We have now upgraded to Web Course Tools version 4.1. The URL is: http://webct.wheaton.edu,
but notice that there is no "www" in
the url.
Help, I'm a student, and I can't get
into WebCT!! This page provides clear instructions for students
to log into WebCT --except for those using Publishers' "E-packs." Faculty
should print this page and distribute to all of their students.
WebCT e-Packs are ready-made WebCT pages provided
by the textbook publishers. They are made available at Wheaton
College by request of the faculty. To date, there are over 1500
textbooks with available WebCT e-packs. Students would use special
access codes for these courses, for which they may pay a fee, usually
about $15.00. However, many are provided free of charge and don't
need access codes.
- To see if an e-Pack is available for your textbook by using
the e-Pack search engine, and for other information on adoption,
select this link.
- For technical support on using an e-Pack, including how to
register your students, select this link.
- If you are interested in an e-Pack for your class, contact David
Kletzing.
The WebCT Tutorial is
written for the designer to learn how to create an online course
with WebCT. The link takes you to the WebCT web site where you
can select two PDF files needed for the tutorial: (1) WebCT Campus
Edition 4.1 and the (2) WebCT Campus Edition 4.1 Tutorial Files.
How-To Links for Faculty Designing WebCT Courses, provided
by Instructional Technology Services
- WebCT Help Sheet. This is a small-step,
cookbook-type, resource for doing many of the basic tasks to
set up a WebCT course. You may wish to print this file, about
12 pages. It includes instructions to enable self-registration
and directions for your students.
- WebCT as an in-class Teaching
Tool. WebCT is usually thought of as a resource to use
outside of class. This page is a veritable brainstorm of
ideas for using WebCT in the classroom. Example: Using
chat to provide your class a live interview with a colleague
who may be located anywhere in the world.
For other questions, including training, please email David
Kletzing or phone at 630.752.5172. Other valuable resources are
available at http://www.webct.com.
