Media Resources Media Lab

The Media Lab offers four Windows XP PCs and an iMac computer which are provided for the use of Wheaton College students, faculty and staff in the course of their Wheaton College work. Also provided are two flatbed scanners, two 35mm slide scanners, and all of the computers can burn CDs and/or DVDs. Use of the lab for personal work or after 5:00 pm can often be arranged. Instruction is available on many of the software on these computers. Trained student staff are available for consultation most afternoons, but it is best to make an appointment through Beth Johanson at x5350.


Reservation

Media Lab computers can be used by reservation only, and this can be done by contacting Jean Bultema at x5061. Please refer to the specific computer to reserve according to the chart below.


Instruction Available

Workshops are available in PowerPoint, Dreamweaver 8, Adobe Photoshop Elements 4, and Groupwise. For instruction on Adobe Acrobat; scanning of images, 35mm slides, or text; audio or video encoding and editing; or burning a CD or DVD, please contact Beth Johanson at x5350. Classes on Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel are offered through the Human Resources Office, phone x5060.


Computers and Software

The following is a list of the five computers in the Media Lab and the hardware and software loaded on each. The Graphics 2 computer and its software are funded through Project Teacher.

Graphics 1 with Nikon 35mm slide scanner with 50-slide automatic feeder

Graphics 2 “Project Teacher” with HP flatbed scanner with sheet feeder, audiocassette deck, color inkjet printer, external hard drive

Graphics 3 “Imac” with OSX Tiger, external DVD burner, floppy disk drive, external hard drive
