Collection Description
The Christian arts collection provides a great deal of insight into the growth of Christian arts in England. The majority of the information deals with theatre groups funded by the trust. Scripts, puplicity posters, and photographs compose a large percentage of the collection. Biographical information on individuals involved with the trust and financial reports are also included. There are four videotapes, two audio tapes, and one record album made of various theatre presentations. The collection also contains some secondary material including a filmstrip and information on a memorial presentation.

Biographical/Historical Sketch
The Christian Arts Trust was formed in 1981 in London, England with an aim is to encourage and promote the expression of Christian truth through the contemporary theatre and the creative arts. The increase of Christian theatre groups in the late 1970's displayed the need and encouraged the formation of the fund. The money is used for theatre companies, for individual people (e.g. a Christian author or director), or for creative conferences. The majority of support goes to various theatre groups for the formulation and performance of theatrical presentations. The Trust has supported over sixty professional projects in the fields of the performing and visual arts. Initiatives we have been able to help in this way have included tours by theatre, dance and mime groups, concerts and recitals, exhibitions of painting and sculpture and creative conferences of Christian artists.
