Collection Description
The Ruth Myers scrapbook measures 10 ½ x 15 ½. The cover is checkered with red and black lines, with the word “Scraps” printed above the image of two cats. On one cat is written, “Ruth Hoisington,” and on the other, “1933-1934, 1934-1935.” The interior is inscribed, “Donated by Ruth Hoisington Myers in 1973.” The pages are yellow and brittle, fragmenting with age. The book primarily deals with her years at Wheaton College, and features paste-ins of invitations, cards, an enrollment invoice, a Freshman Days program and photos of familiar campus scenes and faculty. An interesting section displays maps and informational pamphlets for the 1934 Chicago Century of Progress, which Myers evidently visited.
