APA helps

A. Reading: Read all texts following the reading schedule. Turn in the reading report by December 16 at 6:45 pm.

To facilitate discussion on the readings, journal one idea, thought, statement, or question you have concerning the reading for each week. By this I mean a total of one entry each week from all of the readings for that week, not one entry from each reading. Bring this to class and be ready to discuss them.

You are encouraged to come to class with examples out of your own life and ministry which help shed light on the issues being discussed.

Concerning the Reading Report: You will be given full credit for everything read on time, 50% credit for everything read late. The questions will be worth 20% of your reading grade. You do not have to ask the questions in class to receive credit, but do bring them to class each week so that we may discuss them. On the reading report, simply put a "Y" if you have written the question/comment/idea down before class for that week, and an "N" if you have not.

B.Case Studies: On several Mondays (see schedule) we will work through a case study. Follow the instructions in the handouts "Case Study Procedures" and "Case Study Supplement."

C. Research paper: Write a research paper (maximum of 5000 words--please indicate the word length of your paper at the end of the paper--roughly 15 to 20 pages in double-spaced 12 pitch type) on the topic of your choice in regard to folk religions. In this paper I want to see a clear presentation of the issues involved and an integration with practical application. Due Monday December 9 at the beginning of class.

D. Class presentation: As part of this assignment, the class sessions on December 9 and 16 will be given over to reports on the research papers. You will have 20 minutes for the report–15 minutes for your presentation, and 5 minutes for questions. This will not give you time to talk about everything–you will need to focus on the highlights and what you consider your core ideas/principles or things that will generate class discussion.
