Graduate Study

Graduate study in history can be the first step toward a lifetime of college teaching and scholarship or it can open the door to careers in historic preservation, public history, museum work, archival research, and other pursuits. Recent Wheaton College history majors have pursued graduate study at Northwestern University, Marquette University, the University of Notre Dame, the University of Michigan, the University of Maryland, and University College, LondonMelissa Harkrider serves as the History Department’s liaison for graduate studies. Students interested in graduate work in history or related fields should schedule an appointment with her as soon as possible during their sophomore or junior years. The Graduate School section of the History Handbook offers on-line links to helpful information about graduate study.
