Health Center Services

The following services are available through Student Health Services regardless of whether you waive or elect the student insurance plan. These services are at low cost and billed to the Student's account. These services are available to students and their spouses while the College is in session.

  • Allergy desensitizing injections

  • Appointments: Physicians

  • Nurse visits (no charge)

  • Health education and wellness promotion

  • Health insurance information (free)

  • Immunizations
  • Laboratory testing

  • Loan items -crutches, canes, heating pads, etc. (free)

  • Medications

  • Patient Extended Care Unit (weekdays) meals, nursing care and visits by physicians

  • Physical examinations

  • Referrals to specialists available

  • Resource materials on health related topics(free)

  • Self Care Center (free)

  • Wart treatment

  • Massage visits (payment due at the time of service)

  • Shuttle Service
    The Health Center provides a free shuttle service for students without cars. This is a student driver generated shuttle, and the schedule is subject to change each semester. For best scheduling results, call the Health Center at 630-765-0016 before scheduling the doctor’s appointment to check on weekly driving hours.

We provide transportation to the following areas-

Hospitals: CDH (Winfield), Edwards (Naperville), Good Samaritan (Downers Grove)

Towns: Wheaton, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Carol Stream, Warrenville, Winfield, Lombard, Downers Grove

Wheaton College will try to accommodate each request per the following priority ranking:

Priority I—

  • student that has reserved transportation for an
  • off-campus appointment
  • medical emergency from SHS
  • mental health emergency from Counseling Center

Priority II—

  • transportation to class or on-campus activity

Priority III—

  • students without transportation, needing to pick up medical devices or prescriptions off campus

NOTE: Emergency situations may pre-empt the regular operation of this service.

  • Travel
    The Travel Clinic is available for students going on college-sponsored trips. Staffed by nurses trained in travel health, the Health Center utilizes the Travax Travel Medicine Program to inform and update students, faculty and staff about health and travel conditions including immunizations during a consultation. Appointments can be made by calling 630-752-5072.

    • Students: $20.00 + cost of shots (charged to Student Accounts)

    • Fac/Staff/Alumni (ON a college-sponsored trip): $20.00 + cost of shots (payable at the time of service)
