The New Front Door of Wheaton College
Acting as our new front door, the Welcome Center will be located on the northeast corner of College Avenue and Chase Street. This building will serve as a place of hospitality for all visitors to Wheaton’s campus, as well as the new home of our Undergraduate Admissions office.
The materials used for construction will reflect the historic buildings on campus, including the limestone characteristic of Blanchard Hall, red brick used in the structure of Edman Chapel and the dorms. Windows and entries are similar to McManis-Evans Hall and you’ll notice other architectural shapes drawn from across campus.
Inside, guests will be received in a warm and contemporary reception area called the Great Hall. It will showcase a gas fireplace, generous windows, and an inviting environment for all—particularly for the 80% of prospective students who travel to Wheaton from locations outside Illinois.
The new Welcome Center will reflect the friendly atmosphere we desire for all campus visitors. Our well-appointed Undergraduate Admissions office will be easier to locate, and the Great Hall will provide opportunity to display various exhibits, sharing the story of Wheaton’s rich history and commitment to do all things For Christ and His Kingdom.
