Environmental Studies At Wheaton
College
The Wheaton
College Environmental Studies Curriculum trains students in
the historical foundations of environmental investigation,
its most important concepts and theories, and its contemporary
applications. Conservation biologists (left) at the McGraw Wildlife Foundation near Wheaton College demonstrate how to attach an ear tag to a Virginia opossum for Wheaton environmental studies students.
Students learn state of the art skills and technology
in environmental studies, coupled with careful analysis and
reflection on the social, political, ethical, and theological
dimensions of environmental research and application through
a synthesis of core curricular requirements
and specialized advanced training in distinctive
elective tracts.
Our very
own Wheaton College
Science Station in the Black Hills of South Dakota,
ongoing connections with
other environmental institutes,
and strategic
location in the Greater Chicago Area create unique opportunities
for study, research, and service in environmental and conservation
science. Wheaton College provides its own GIS lab (right), specially equipped computers, map making hardware and GIS software to train students in the latest skills and applications of GIS.
