Wheaton in England 2007

We will spend the summer of 2007 exploring the country of Great Britain.  After two weeks on campus (starting June 6) to get oriented to the program, we will fly to London for a week of sightseeing, historical and literary investigation, and, of course, theater-going. Our Southern Excursion will take us to Winchester, Stonehenge, Bemerton, Salisbury, Tintagel, Glastonbury, Bath, and Tintern Abbey.  After the southern excursion, we will travel to Oxford and set up residence at St. Anne's College. Here we will lead the life of scholars for a while enjoying occasional day trips to Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, Milton's Cottage, and C.S. Lewis sites. We will then reward ourselves for our labors with an excursion that will take us to Haworth, Durham, the Lake District, and Coventry. After enjoying the lakes and hills, we will return to London and make our farewells August 2nd and 3rd.  If you wish to join us, please complete an application form (available in the English Department).

We will begin taking applications and deposits ($500 is required to hold a place for you) on September 12th, and will continue until the program is full.  At that point we will start a waiting list.  The program can fill up very quickly, so you should be prompt if you want a place on this exciting journey.

The teachers for this program will be Dr. Sharon Coolidge and Dr. Leland Ryken, who will be joined by
Dr. Brett Foster
