Dr.
Funck's reseach interests include transition metals, especially
as they relate to bioinorganic model studies, and Lewis base
interaction with unsaturated coordination spheres. He also has
been active in various chemical education functions as a member
of ACS examination committees and as a consultant for Advanced
Placement.
Dr. Funck served as Chair of the Chemistry Department from1989
until 2002. He is active in his church, serving as Finance Manager
and as a choir member. His wife is a music teacher and church
organist. His two sons, Brian and David, both graduated from
Wheaton College. His hobbies include bike riding, hiking, reading,
and following professional and college sports teams (especially
Wheaton College athletics). He is a devoted fan of Philadelphia
sports and Penn State, reflecting his Pennsylvania origins.
