Brief Description.
Microfiche edition of archives relating to mission
endeavor of two major British societies. Primarily concerns
India and British Africa; includes material re: African areas
under Belgian, Portuguese, and French control as well.
Manuscript material is correspondence and memoranda related to
key mission figures Joseph H. Oldham (1874-1969) and William
Paton (1886-1943); much printed material is also included.

Historical Background
British missionary societies; IMC emerged from the World Missionary Conference in 1910,
being formally established in 1921; CBMS, formerly known as the Conference of Missionary
Societies in Great Britain and Ireland, established in 1912.
Scope and Content
The microfiche primarily concerns India and British Africa, but includes material about African
areas under Belgium, Portuguese and French control as well. Manuscript material is
correspondence and memoranda related especially to key mission figures Joseph H. Oldham
(1874-1969) and William Paton (1886-1943); much printed material is also included.
