Described briefly below are sets of documents from the Archives that deal with different types of twentieth century evangelism, drawn from the BGC Archives collections. On Friday morning, November 8th, each member of the Point Group will be working with one of these sets of documents. If you like, you may reserve ahead of time one of these that might particularly interest you. | A2 | From Collection 20, papers of Herbert J. Taylor. Correspondence and reports illustrating Taylor's very active ministry as a businessman and Christian layman. The program book and a file of speeches contain many of the presentations at the 1969 Congress in Bogota. The Congress, one of a series held throughout the world and sponsored by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, was intended to stimulate continent-wide evangelistic planning. These letters, besides providing a portrait of Jones himself, his faith and the close relations in his family, give many glimpses into the daily struggles and discouragements involvement in starting radio station HCJB and the World Radio Missionary Fellowship. They also provide interesting comparisons between North American and South American beliefs and lifestyles. 1922-1955. Folders 7-3 through 7-8 related to the Women's Home in Fatehpur (India) give a strong picture of women on the bottom of Indian society and the difficulties encountered in their rehabilitation. Folder 7-4 includes documents which record the Home's struggle to maintain its emphasis on the girls' rehabilitation and the change to becoming a school for younger children. 1932-1971. The hundreds of entries are from all over the United States (and a smattering of some from other English-speaking countries) and provide a fascinating, unscientific sample of the religious faith and beliefs of a self-selected group of children, teenagers and young adults.
