The staff had one important change during the year. Bob thought that twenty-seven years was long enough for anyone to be director of the Archives and that the department would benefit from new perspectives. He suggested to Dr. Allison, the director of the Center, that Paul become director of the Archives. After extensive talks between Dr. Allison, Paul and Bob, this was done and Bob took over additional archival responsibilities, under Paul's leadership. The transition in leadership went smoothly. The change was an unusual one in some ways, but has been productive and healthy. It is a true expression of principles that have always infused the Archives staff: mutual respect and support, and a dedication to making the work of the department an example of Christian service.
