We regularly conduct telephone interviews. Call 800-222-2419 ext. 2 to arrange a telephone interview.
• Do I need to submit SAT and ACT test scores?
Yes, applicants are required to submit either SAT or ACT scores, including the writing section. Wheaton uses the highest verbal, math, and writing scores from any sitting of the SAT test and/or the highest composite ACT score. The standardized test scores must be sent directly from the testing service. In the past we have used scores sent via official high school transcripts. While we certainly do not want to make this process more burdensome for our applicants, we have made a change to that policy for the following reasons:
1. Wheaton requires students to take either the SAT or ACT writing test and report those scores. Last year we found that many high schools either excluded the writing scores altogether or did not include both the writing subscore and essay score in their reporting. Receiving scores from the testing service ensures that we have the complete listing of all scores.
2. Receiving tests from the testing service allows the scores to be uploaded directly into our computer system, assisting in data entry accuracy and saving time in manual entry from the high school transcripts.
Wheaton's code number for the SAT is 1905; the code number for the ACT is 1160.

• Does Wheaton require the SAT and ACT writing section?
Yes, Freshman applicants are required to submit results from either the
SAT I with writing or the ACT with writing test. Transfer applicants are not required to submit writing scores.
• Does Wheaton require results from SAT Subject
Tests?
Wheaton does not use SAT Subject Tests for admission decisions.
However, SAT Subject Test results are used for placement and granting college credit to
accepted students who choose to enroll. If an Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate course and exam are taken, the SAT Subject Test is not necessary. Click here for specific information concerning the scores that are needed
to waive a course or receive credit.
• Are there minimum GPA, class rank, or test score requirements?
Although Wheaton College looks for students who are strong academically, the College does not have any minimum requirements for GPA, class rank, or standardized test scores. A combination of these factors is considered in making admission decisions.
• What weights are attached to grades, test scores, essay responses and extra-curricular activities?
Admissions decisions at Wheaton College are based upon a variety of factors, including evidence of Christian faith, grades, test scores, essay responses, extra-curricular activities, and recommendations. Specific weights are not attached to the individual components.

• Does Wheaton College take into account the rigor of an applicant’s high school academic program, the rigor of a school’s grading system, and the difference between weighted and unweighted grade point averages?
Yes, the rigor of your academic program, your school’s grading system, and whether GPAs and/or class ranks are weighted are all taken into consideration when we review your application. We evaluate your academic record in the context of what is available to you at your particular high school.
• What are the requirements for Homeschool students?
Wheaton College welcomes Homeschool applicants.

• If I am accepted, can I defer my enrollment?

before coming to Wheaton may re-apply within two years by submitting the supplementary
application.
• Does Wheaton accept credit earned
through Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, SAT
Subject Tests, and Clep Tests?

International Baccalaureate, and SAT Subject Test scores. Credit
is not given for Clep tests. Click here

• Are dual credit/dual enrollment college courses accepted for credit at Wheaton?
Wheaton does accept dual credit/dual enrollment college courses. Talk to your admissions counselor for more information.
• If I transfer to Wheaton, how do I know what courses will be accepted for credit?
Most credits earned at another accredited college will transfer to Wheaton if the courses are applicable to a liberal arts program. Courses of a vocational or technical nature or courses in which a D grade was earned are not transferable. Courses taken at an unaccredited college may receive some credit with the approval of the Registrar. The College reserves the right to decide the acceptability and applicability of degrees and credits earned at other institutions. Your admissions counselor is happy to speak with you about the types of courses that are generally accepted for credit at Wheaton College.
