Professional and Personal Interests

"Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them" (Ps. 111:2, NRSV).

"God speaks to us through the Scriptures not in order to make us scholars, but to make us Christians. To be sure, to make us Christians in our science, too, but not in such a way as to make human science superfluous or to teach us in a supernatural way all sorts of things that could and would otherwise be learned by scientific training and research. What Scripture does intend is to place us as humans in a right position to God, even in our scientific studies and efforts (H. Ridderbos, Studies in Scripture and Its Authority. Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1978, pp. 23-24).

Andrew E. Hill is Professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois where he has held a faculty appointment in the Biblical & Theological Studies Department since 1984. His graduate training includes: M.Div. with Christian Education emphasis (Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, 1984), M.A. and Ph.D. in Near Eastern Studies (University of Michigan, 1978, 1981). In addition, Professor Hill has served the Wheaton College as General Education Coordinator (1990-93) and BTS Department Chair (1998-2001).

Professor Hill has been affiliated with Robert E. Webber and the Institute of Worship Studies (IWS) since 1992, and has taught "Biblical Foundations of Worship" as an adjunct faculty member for the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies since 1999. He is the author of Enter His Courts with Praise! (Grand Rapids: Baker, 1996). Other related experiences include: contributor to The Complete Library of Christian Worship (Vol. 1: The Biblical Foundations of Worship. Robert E. Webber, ed. Nashville: Star Song, 1993); design and development team member and a contributor to the Praise and Worship Study Bible (Wheaton: Tyndale House, 1997); and a contributor to The Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible. R. J. Foster and D. Willard, eds. San Francisco: Harper, 2005. See further the R. E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies web site at: www.iwsfla.org. Link to Worship Studies Materials.
