Nov. 11 marked the 57th observance of Veterans Day since its initiation as a national holiday in 1954 as a way to recognize all American veterans. There are approximately 21.5 million veterans alive in the United States. Of those, 1.5 million fulfilled their service in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa. In a ceremony on Nov. 8, Wheaton College ROTC honored veterans who are part of the Wheaton community, their families and the veterans across the nation. More >

Senior Laura Ketchum’s two favorite scarves may be comfortable, but she likes these neck warmers as more than a fashion statement. “(The scarves) are made slave-free … I finally feel like I’m promoting something that I actually would wear and support and pay money for,” said Ketchum. Ketchum purchased her scarves from Kavalena Clothing, a small business start-up that celebrated its first birthday this month, signaling a year of working out its motto “look good, do good.” By donating the proceeds of its sales to organizations around the world, Kavalena Clothing helps people in need while providing shoppers with style. Ain't it Sweet: Thunder Women's Soccer Team Reaches Sweet Sixteen
Head Coach Pete Felske could not have asked for a better start to the playoffs. The Wheaton women’s soccer team defended their home turf in rounds one and two of the NCAA Tournament with a pair of convincing wins, defeating Webster University (Mo.) 4-0 on Friday, Nov. 9, then cruising past University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 7-0 on Saturday, Nov. 10. The two wins put the Thunder into the Sweet Sixteen for the ninth consecutive season as the team continues its 16th consecutive tournament appearance. More >
Ain't it Sweet: Thunder Men's Soccer Team Reaches Sweet Sixteen
The Wheaton men’s soccer team (17-3-3) pushed their unbeaten streak to 13 games last weekend as they defeated Transylvania University (16-2-2) and Centre College (15-4-3) in the NCAA tournament first and second rounds, respectively. The wins earned the Thunder a berth in the national Sweet Sixteen, to be played this weekend at Loras College (21-1-1) in Dubuque, Iowa. More >
