Wheaton College students entered the dining hall on Tuesday, Dec. 11, and were greeted not with the familiar stacks of brown food trays but, instead, clear tubs of compacted food waste that occupied the cart shelf beneath the silverware. The message was to “go trayless.” More >
Middle-earth Meets Wheaton
Tolkien society to host “Hobbit” showing.
The Wheaton College Tolkien Society (WCTS) along with over 400 Wheaton students, faculty and staff is joining Bilbo Baggins on his unexpected journey through Middle-earth this evening, Friday, Dec. 14. Baggins, protagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit,” will make his appearance on screen at the Regal Cantera movie theater in Warrenville during a 7 p.m. film showing of “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, ” Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the novel. Student-written play explores themes of loneliness at Wheaton.
The Arena Theater black box will be home to the opening performance of “Sitting Alone: A Play about Loneliness at Wheaton” on Friday, Dec. 14. The piece is the brainchild of senior Sarah Neff, who began writing the play as a class project for a course called Theater and Culture last semester. More >

Thunder Swimming Enjoying Strong Year
Team hosts Wheaton Invite and defeats Olivet in dual meet.
The Wheaton men’s and women’s swim teams have been in the pool for quite some time this year, and they have put together strong team races heading into the holiday break. Wheaton first hosted the 32nd annual Wheaton Invitational two weekends ago, welcoming five of the nation’s top swimming programs into Chrouser Natatorium, including Hope College (Mich.), Washington University (Mo.), UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater.
