Why YHM?

Youth Hostel Ministry facilitates genuine moments for travelers to share their stories with one another. This makes it an incredible arena for people to see and experience Jesus Christ's love and hospitality.

Words to live by …

"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with your whole heart."  - Jeremiah 29:13

Craziest thing I’ve done

Once, when I was four, I gave myself a buzz cut.

I want to …… before I die

Walk the Camino pilgrimage.

It bothers me when ….

People are self-depreciating.

Anna Robinson, Administrator

Why YHM?

YHM helped me understand and experience what it means to tangibly live in the Gospel. Through conversations about faith, the practice of hospitality, and all the while wrestling through big questions, I experienced God meeting me where I was. I'm excited to see God work in the lives of more people through YHM.

Words to live by …

"The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it."

Craziest thing I’ve done

Moved from Northern Ireland to Missouri.

I want to …… before I die

Learn to dance

It bothers me when ….

People eat corned beef and cabbage. (I'm from N. Ireland. It's not a thing!)

Joyce Lee, Orientation Coordinator

Why YHM?

YHM is other-centered and a practical way to live out the Great Commission. It will broaden your perspective by pushing you outside of your comfort zone.

Words to live by …

"What would you do if you were a cool grandma?"

Craziest thing I’ve done

Skinny dipped in the ocean.

I want to …… before I die

Travel to every continent and float in the Dead Sea.

It bothers me when ….

People chew with their mouths open and make noises.

Alexia Carlson, Travel Coordinator

Why YHM?

Well, I went on my own YHM summer in 2015. It was an incredibly growing and fruitful summer. YHM began to teach e more about what hospitality and loving communities can do for the body of Christ and the people of this earth. I want other students to experience and enjoy the beauty of travel and meeting different people from all walks of life.

Words to live by …

Glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

Craziest thing I’ve done

Adrenaline wise, the craziest thing I have done is probably jumping off a broken dam that was 40ft above the water. As for impulsive decisions, I think it would be a tie between dying my entire head of hair a shocking shade of magenta, or chopping all of my hair off into a pixie cut while living in a foreign country.

I want to …… before I die

Fully hike the Camino de Santiago.

It bothers me when ….

People are left out or under appreciated.

Priscilla Kang, Special Projects Coordinator

Why YHM?

YHM is such an amazing and unique opportunity. I'm really drawn to the idea of living alongside strangers and having organic and honest spiritual conversations with them. There's a level of mutual respect and trust that enables people to engage in such a way - I can't think of a more exciting space to share the Gospel and learn about people's lives.

Words to live by …

"To die is to gain."

Craziest thing I’ve done

When I was a kid, I had a habit of stealing one thing from every restaurant I ate at. Mostly just spoons - sort of bizzare because I sometimes wouldn't even know I was doing it.

I want to …… before I die

Live in solitude for a year.

It bothers me when ….

People fist for compliments. Don't put me on the spot...If I don't mean it, it won't be convincing and then it'll just be awkward.

Hannah Koberstein, Fundraising Coordinator

Why YHM?

I really wanted to get to know the traveling community of Europe - it's an area of evangelism I've never been too familiar with.

Words to live by …

First, coffee.

Craziest thing I’ve done

60 foot cliff jumping in Colorado.

I want to …… before I die

Visit Australia, go scuba diving and hug a koala.

It bothers me when ….

People rub their bare feet across carpet...I just can't hand that sound!
