Joanna Mallya, Chair

Why SMP?

SMP allows people to give of their time, energy and resources to others. It is one of those times when service is a choice. It's an example of how life should be lived.

 Words to live by …

Be still. He is God and He is good.

Donuts, donuts, DONUTS!

 Craziest thing I’ve done

Helping my brother remove his teeth. Some methods were painful. We had fun.

I want to …… before I die

Open a donut shop, travel the world with my family, and climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

 It bothers me when ….

Someone chews gum and I'm not. It hurts my teeth.

Maria Gryparis, Administrator

Why SMP?

I applied to be on SMP cabinet not only because it is an amazing way to serve during your summer, but because the community of SMP is just so awesome. I've come to find some awesome friends throughout the semester and had the opportunity to see them grow and serve God throughout our time in Ecuador. Just do it, it's worth it.

Words to live by …

"Chocolate is ALWAYS the answer."  - Me

Craziest thing I’ve done

Going dumpster diving at Dunkin Donuts my first week at Wheaton freshman year. (You know you've done it too.)

I want to …… before I die

Visit every continent

It bothers me when ….

People are exceptionally tall...that's you Leif.

Serena Suh, Travel Coordinator

Why SMP?

We learn a lot about the global church and our mission as Christians to serve sons and daughters of God all over the world. Sometimes it's hard to make that conviction and commission a reality, especially when you are living in the quiet suburbs of Wheaton, IL. SMP is the bridge that connects between our education here and the world "out there". It increases our understanding of the global church in a personal way, and I think that is so important.

Words to live by....

"All our sentiment about people at a distance, and our heart-stirrings for the distressed and oppressed, and our prayers for the heathen, are pointless and fraudulent, if we are neglecting the occasions for service lying to our hand. If we don not love our brethren (or sistren) here, how can we love our brethren (or sistren) elsewhere, except as a pious sentimentality? And if we don not love those we have seen, how can we love God whom we have not seen?"  - Hugh Black

"Mix a little foolishness with your serious plans."  - Horace

Craziest things I've done:

I don't know if this is the craziest or the stupidest thing I've done, but I accidently threw in my phone with the garbage after work and I had to jump in the dumpster to look for it.

I want to...before I die:

Learn how to cliff dive (probably after I learn how to swim) and do the car thing from "The Perks of Being a Wallflower".

It bothers me when:

Things are not symmetrical.
