Graduation year: 2014
Hometown: Chicago, IL
Major: International Relations Involvement at Wheaton: Community Life Council, IM Soccer and Volleyball, HNGR
Position on SG: Jr. Class President
Why SG? I wanted a way to give back to this community, and to be involved here on campus. SG is something new for me, and I thought it'd be a great way to serve alongside other brothers and sisters in a new context. I'm especially excited to listen to and represent my classmates, and to get to know the faculty and administration better.
About me: I'm originally from Wheaton but grew up on Chicago's South Side after my family planted a church in Hyde Park. I have 4 younger siblings, and lots of family in the Chicago-land area. While Wheaton brought me back to the suburbs for college, I'm hoping that after school my IR major and love for cities will take me somewhere urban.
Why Wheaton? The choice to come to Wheaton was pretty hard for me as I wasn't sure I was interested in a Christian school. Now that I'm here though, I'm so glad I came. Wheaton's community of Christians honestly pursuing Christ-likeness together has been such a blessing to me.
What would you like to achieve by being a part of Student Government this year? I'd like to faithfully serve and represent, specifically the Junior Class, and also the larger student body. Describe Wheaton in three words: So many acronyms
Favorite Wheatonism: C.S. Lewis
Most memorable experience at Wheaton: Getting taped on Traber 6
What makes Wheaton unique? Its interest in students as people, and in developing students as whole people--intellectually, spiritually, and relationally. That's hard to find at a secular school, and Wheaton does a first-rate job. Favorite campus event: All School Communion
How has the Wheaton Community impacted you? I think most of all it’s shown me what it means to be a part of the body of Christ. I didn't really know what that meant before coming here, and so these last two years have been a time of growth and learning from the things I've experienced in this wonderful community of Christians.
