College Union hosted The President’s Ball, Wheaton College’s first off campus dance on February 20, 2012. This formal event was held in downtown Chicago at Café Brauer in the Lincoln Park Zoo. Wheaton’s history includes a long tradition of formal events with the most prominent being the Washington Banquet. The President's Ball 2013 will be held in the Navy Pier Ballroom on February 18, 2013.
Live music is happening at Wheaton College! Throughout the year, CU hosts artists and musicians across all genres to perform in Edman Chapel and Coray Gym. In the recent year, shows have included Gungor, Iron & Wine, Ben Rector, The Decemberists, Phil Keaggy, The Fold, Kristyn and Keith Getty, Welcome Wagon.
During September, Seniors welcome underclassmen into their on-campus houses for the Ultimate House Party event. Each house transforms their home (usually every last square foot of it!) to create interactive events such as haunted mazes, musical experiences, relaxed coffeehouse settings, themed parties, and more.
Coordinated and produced by College Union, this sold out event features a wide variety of talents from our students in areas such as music, dance, comedy and the quintessential random acts of college talent. It is held in Edman Chapel each fall during Family Weekend.
Typically held in February, Air Jam has become a staple of the student culture here at Wheaton. What originally began as a lip-sync competition has evolved into so much more, with acts using elaborate choreography, costumes, props, and the occasional gimmick to make their routine as entertaining as possible.
From August until April, each class works tirelessly to pull together a short film that is shown to the student body through the Class Films event held in Edman Chapel. This festival of class films includes a red carpet entrance with the actors and film crews along with an award ceremony that hands out the coveted Golden Mastodon award.
Take 500 students, 500 pair of roller skates, crazy clothes, disco music, funky lights and a disco ball, and you’ve got the Roller Disco. Offering a chance to take break from midterms and the winter blues and have some fun on campus, the event takes place in Coray Alumni Gym and is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated events of the year.
