Wheaton College is a member of the AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education) and the USGBC (United States Green Building Council).

President Duane Litfin signed the Evangelical Climate Initiative.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, and acting upon recommendation from ESAC, Senior Vice President David Johnston signed the Illinois Sustainable University Compact.

ESAC has formally requested the Marketing/Communications staff to post this list of initiatives on the Wheaton Web site.

Buswell Library and Wade Center staff formed a creation-care group that takes initiatives such as printing double-sided, considering alternatives to bottled water, etc.

Telephone Services publishes the student telephone directory online, saving approximately 175,000 sheets of paper annually.

The J. Dennis Hastert Center for Economics, Government, and Public Policy hosting a lecture on 3 February 2010 by Dr. Candace Wheeler of General Motors and a Wheaton alumna, titled “Driving Towards Sustainable Mobility: An Automotive Perspective on Biofuel Technologies and Policies.”
