From the President
Dear Wheaton Parents,
Last week’s student-run “Missions in Focus” conference reminds me what a precious gift and stewardship trust the students on Wheaton’s campus are, and of the many Kingdom opportunities they represent.
The MIF conference brings renewed energy to our campus for three days each February. This year the students focused on the theme “Marketplace—By Him and For Him.” Students heard presentations by two dozen professionals, many of whom are Wheaton alumni, from business (manufacturing, finance, and venture capital), technology, government, the arts, professional sports, media, and education. Chapel keynote speakers included overseas missionary and small business owner Rebecca Sandberg ’99, who after serving in Kenya runs a local business employing refugee women; Wheaton dad Joel Manby who is the President and CEO of the largest family owned theme park in the nation, Herschend Family Entertainment; international artist and advocate for the arts Makoto Fujimura; and Hasana Sisco ’86, Vice President of Global Safety, Health and Environment for Ecolab, Inc.
Each of these accomplished individuals shared with the students how their Christian faith informed their work in the marketplace. It is a high priority to encourage our students to think about “life after Wheaton” with its many challenges and opportunities. I hope your student will take advantage of the resources available to him or her through our Career Services center, Wheaton in Network, and other mentoring opportunities.
In Christ's Service,
Phil
Philip G. Ryken
President

For more information about the flu, view the Key Facts about influenza on the Centers for Disease Control website.
