We encourage parents of new Wheaton students to attend Parent Orientation, which happens right alongside Student Orientation!

Parent Orientation is a great time to get a feel for student life at Wheaton and to meet other parents making the same transition as you!  The schedule below will give you a preview of the weekend.  We also encourage you to visit our FAQ page for help with some common Parent Orientation questions.


Thursday, August 21   
Early Arrivals:
international students, MKs, TCKs, Passage participants, and music majors.

2 - 5 pm 

Parent Welcome Center Open
Pick up a name badge, pocket schedule, and discounted meal tickets for Anderson Commons.
Beamer Center, lower level, Fireside Room 
5:30 - 8:30 pm   Music Major Orientation Meeting  
Meet the faculty, learn more about ensembles, touring, and more. 
Edman Memorial Chapel, Room 102 (backstage)  

Friday, August 22
Arrival time for all other freshmen and transfer students and parents.
9 am - 4 pm  Residence Halls open for all new students
Staff and student volunteers will help you transport your student's belongings to their room.
Check in at residence hall before stopping by the Welcome Center 
9 am - 4 pm   Parent Welcome Center Open
Pick up a name badge, pocket schedule, and discounted meal tickets to Anderson Commons.

Consider transitions, identity, and resources specific to TCK, MK, and international students.  Enjoy lunch with fellow international parents.

2:30 - 3:30 pm  Student Care -- Disabilities Services Meeting
Open for all new parents interested in learning about the resources available for those with specific learning, physical, psychological needs.

 3:30-4:30pm Student Care – Health and Counseling Services Meeting
Open for all new students and parents interested in learning about the resources available for preventative care, emotional health and Wheaton’s commitment to encouraging you to live well.

4:30 - 5:30 pm  Alumni Reception and Photo
Reception for alumni families and their new students with President Ryken. Group photographs of children or grandchildren of Wheaton alumni taken at 5 pm.

7 - 8:15 pm  Opening Program
A welcome and dedication program for new students and families, with administrators, the Orientation Committee and other guests.

Meet the parents of students who live on your son or daughter's same residence hall floor. Enjoy complimentary dessert and coffee brought to you by Wheaton Parent Relations.
