Info for Speakers

Generally, the best, most effective, most engaging, most remembered speakers come to World Christian Fellowship with their personal stories. How has God worked in your life? In your ministry? Country? People group? etc. We want to know you. We want to build an ongoing relationship with you as a speaker and the people/organizations you represent so that we are better able to offer our services, prayers, and fellowship. Please be creative in choosing how best to introduce yourself to us, the Wheaton College community, so that we can in turn introduce ourselves to you, an essential first step in forming personal connections and ties across an incredibly diverse global community.

About your audience: the students attending World Christian Fellowship are aware of the call to missions, mission philosophy, and global trends. We know of the needs of the church and peoples around the world, but for many students this is very much just a vague awareness, a cognitive knowledge. We need the state of our hearts to be brought up to match the state of our minds. This does not mean at all that we are unmotivated; rather we are deeply motivated and desirous of helping and serving those in need. We need, however, to continually ask the Holy Spirit to grant us love and compassion and strength to follow the steps of Jesus into incarnational ministry. And again this raises the questions we would love to hear you speak on: How has the Holy Spirit moved in your ministry? What struggles have you faced in maintaining a Christ-like ministry?

You will want to read the information on the Philosophy of WCF page, which was put together by the cabinet chair in an attempt to better communicate to the Wheaton campus our vision for World Christian Fellowship.

You will be in contact with the worship leader about specifics for the night, but here are a few helpful constants to keep in mind.

  • We meet to pray over the night at 6:30.

  • We have capability to show videos, DVDs, power-point presentations on either CDs or floppy disks, and pretty much whatever else you'd like to use, but we do need to know ahead of time what you will be using in order to have it prepared for you.

  • The service itself starts at 7:30 and it ends at 9:00. What happens inbetween will be determined in your communications with the worship leader. Speakers generally speak for 30 minutes.

  • We are very intentional about keeping the night focused, and we do take the prayer, the worship, the speaking and the thematic elements very seriously. We try very hard never to do anything for its own sake, but always with the intent of bringing glory and praise to God.

  • You are encouraged to work as closely as possible with the worship leader as they are very capable and enthusiastic about their role in the ministry. In many ways, the success of the night depends on good communication between the speakers and worship leaders.

  • This is a ministry of prayer, and in all ways the success of the night depends on God's grace. Please be in prayer for the night, in prayer for the students attending, and for those organizing the night.
