101 Ways to Be a World Christian
Senders | Servicers | "Go-ers" | Going

Advancing the mission cause requires more workers than the "frontline" field missionaries... just as crucial are the Servicers, who equip, send, and oversee missionaries on the field.

Local Church Involvement
It sounds simple but remember that Wheaton College is a community of believers and has wonderful resources but is not a church. Therefore the first thing to do when you are thinking of being mobilized for missions as either a sender or are going is to get involved as a regular worshipper at a local church. Let church leaders know of your heart for missions and ask them to start praying for you. Acts 13 gives the wonderful example of Paul and Barnabas being sent out for missions from the local church.

1) ADMINISTRATION

Any mission agency will give you a list of administrative positions waiting to be filled... possibly even in your own home town!

Examples: Human Resources Coordinator, Video and Sound Production, Strategic Networker, Secretary, Financial Director, Church Relations, Short-Term Coordinator, Information Technology

2) MEMBER CARE

If you are involved in member care, you are providing for the unique needs of missionaries and their families, including psychological counseling and help with logistical issues. This is a much-neglected area of service.
