Lisa Beamer to Speak at 2011 Commencement
Beamer graduated from the College in 1991 with a BA in economics. Her professional career includes sales and management experience in the accounting and technology industries with Arthur Andersen & Company and Oracle Corporation.
In 2001, following the death of her husband Todd in the terrorist attacks of September 11, she shared her family’s story via news programs and speaking engagements. Beamer is the author of the New York Times best-seller Let’s Roll! Ordinary People, Extraordinary Courage, which recounts her experiences and attests to God’s sovereignty, love, and purpose in her life.
Beamer and her family live in New Jersey, where she is a full-time parent and a part-time financial assistant with a local homelessness prevention agency.
Beamer will address candidates for the master’s and doctoral degrees from the Wheaton College Graduate School at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, and candidates for the bachelor’s degree in the arts, sciences, and music education at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011.
The ceremonies, as well as the 7:30 p.m. Festival of Faith concert Friday, May 6 and the traditional Baccalaureate Service at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 8 will be broadcast live on WETN (88.1 FM) and Wheaton Community Cable (Channel 72 in Wheaton, Channel 17 in Warrenville and Winfield, and Channel 10 in West Chicago).
