Symphonic Band

The Wheaton College Symphonic Band has been performing traditional and contemporary wind band literature for over 120 years. It is a remarkable group who enjoy working together to share their musical gifts with others. The ensemble also participates in regular devotions, service projects, and social activities. It includes both music majors and liberal arts majors.

2009 - 2010 informational letter

Auditions for The Wheaton College Symphonic Band consist of the following prepared items: 1) 1.5 minute "lyrical" selection of your choosing 2) 1.5 minute "technical" selection of your choosing 3) Chromatic scale from your lowest note to your highest note ascending and descending slurred 4) Sight-reading (given at the audition, no preparation needed). Auditions are held in August on the Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday before classes begin on Wednesday. Contact Dr. Yontz (Timothy.Yontz@wheaton.edu, 630-752-5150) to set up an audition time or signup for an audition at his office (McAlister 228) or in the Beamer Center during orientation on Thursday and Friday before the start of classes. Auditions are open to all majors at Wheaton College. You DO NOT need to be a music major to participate.
