What is the general education requirement in Oral Communication?
How can I waive the requirement?


Each Wheaton college student must take one of the following courses:

- COMM 101 Public Speaking (2 credits)
- COMM 201 Fundamentals of Oral Communication (2 credits) for Communication majors and minors only
- COMM 213 Speech for Teachers (2 credits) only for students seeking teacher certification
- COMM 252 Argumentation and Debate (4 credits)

The requirement must be completed by the end of the sophomore year.

The requirement in Oral Communication can be waived upon passing a competency test, offered each semester. The test includes delivering an original, eight-minute, extemporaneous speech.
