Debate Team

The Wheaton College Parliamentary Debate team builds off a long history of successful debate at Wheaton College. Although the parliamentary debate program started in the Fall of 2003, Wheaton has a long history of successful debate. In the recent past, Wheaton sent a team to the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence (NPTE) a very prestigious tournament to which teams have to qualify. One Wheaton team was ranked 51st in the nation out of 955 teams; that same team advanced to elimination rounds at the National Parliamentary Debate Assocation (NPDA) tournament. This years team boasts 30 members and will compete from September to March.

The Parliamentary Debate team exists to promote the development of persuasive, articulate, and critically thinking Christians who can use their skills in many different walks of life after debate is over.
