Lessons
Information:
PARTICIPANTS: Girls and Boys must be 7 years of
age and be able to stand in 3'6" deep
water.
INSTRUCTORS: Wheaton College has offered Red
Cross swimming lessons to the community since the summer of
1982. All swim lessons instructors are varsity college
swimmers, varsity high school swimmers, experienced college
students, or graduate students.
OFFERINGS: Classes are offered after school in
September and April. Classes run for forty minute
periods with an approximate instructor-to-student ratio of
1:5. Classes are arranged by ability level, though
age and gender are taken into consideration when assigning
children to specific groups. Ripples, Currents,
and some Waves classes take place in the shallow end of
the pool. some waves, and all Breakers, Surf and Tidalwave classes take
place in the deep end.
