The Chrouser Aquatics Center was completed in
the summer of 1981, becoming the first pool at Wheaton College.
The center houses a 61 foot wide by 110 foot long pool, with a moveable
divider which enables multiple configurations for programming.
The eight lane racing course can be set at 25 yards or 25 meters
of total deep water for competition. Balcony overlooks or windows
are available for viewing on all four sides of the natatorium; a nine
line scoreboard provides readouts during swim meets. A one meter
and a three meter diving board complete the facility. In addition
to providing recreation and fitness opportunities for Wheaton's
students, faculty and staff, the Chrouser Aquatics Center is home to an
extensive Children's Learn to Swim Program as well as competitive swim
teams at the college, high school, YMCA, and USA Swimming Club
levels. It has also been the site of numerous state and regional
swimming meets. The Chrouser Natatorium ranges in depth from 3
1/2 feet at the shallow end to 13 feet at the diving end. Water
temperature is maintained between 80º and 82º F. The pool is
located in the Eckert
Student Recreation Center at the corner of Chase Street and
Kenilworth Avenues in Wheaton
