Applying to Wheaton as an International Student
Thank you for your interest in Wheaton College! We are pleased you are applying and look forward to working with you throughout the application process.
For the purposes of admission to Wheaton College, an international student is defined as a non-U.S. citizen who does not have a U.S. permanent resident visa. If you are a citizen of the United States or its territories, or you have a U.S. permanent resident visa, you are not classified as an international applicant - please refer to the application instructions for the College of Arts & Sciences or Conservatory of Music.
Please read the instructions carefully and pay close attention to the deadlines. All the requirements listed must be met in order to be considered for admission.
Freshman admission decisions are made at two times during the year. Early Action students receive an early, non-binding admission decision (accept, refuse, or delayed decision) by December 31st. Early Action candidates must submit all required items so that they arrive in Admissions by November 1st. Regular Action students must submit all required items so that they arrive in Admissions by January 10th and will receive their admission decision (accept, refuse, or waiting list) by April 1st. Transfer deadlines are listed below.
Admissions Deadlines for International Students

The application and all supporting documents are due to Wheaton College by the application deadline dates listed above. We do not accept faxed applications or reproductions of the application or any application form. Applications received after the deadline cannot be guaranteed equal consideration. Please allow at least two weeks for postal delivery or use an express mail or courier service. All documents submitted to Wheaton College become the sole property of Wheaton College and cannot be returned to the applicant.
We will acknowledge receipt of your application by email. Please contact us at email@example.com if you do not receive notification within three weeks of submitting your application to us. When all supporting documents have been received, we will notify you by email that your application is complete.
Admission decisions are given to overseas students by email or fax upon your written request. We will also send you an official copy of your decision letter by mail. In the interest of confidentiality and fairness to all applicants, we do not give decisions over the telephone or prior to the notification dates listed. Early Action applicants will be emailed by January 6, and Regular Action applicants will be emailed by April 1.
A $300 advance deposit is required from all admitted students by May 1 in order to confirm enrollment for the fall semester. The deposit is non-refundable after May 1. This deposit will be credited toward tuition upon enrollment.

International Application Instructions
Complete the full application form. Refer to the following guidelines:
- You may apply to the College of Arts and Sciences or to the Conservatory of Music, but not both. If you wish to pursue a Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Music Education degree, apply to the Conservatory of Music. Please read through the supplemental information required for International Conservatory applicants.
- Freshman applicants are those students who have not yet graduated from secondary school, regardless of the number of university credits earned. University coursework is evaluated after acceptance. Freshman applicants are also those who, at the time of application, have graduated from secondary school, but have less than 15 post-graduation semester hours of university credit.
- Transfer applicants are those who, at the time of application, have graduated from secondary school and completed 15 post-graduation semester hours or more of university credit from an accredited institution, and will have completed a full year of university credit (30 semester hours) before the time of enrollment at Wheaton College.
$50 APPLICATION FEE
In order to submit the online application, you will need to pay the $50 application fee by credit card, debit card, or by online check. The application fee is non-refundable.

Please see instructions on page four of the application. All applicants are required to answer both essay questions one and two. Transfers must submit an additional essay.
SECONDARY SCHOOL RECORD
To be considered official, all secondary school transcripts, mark sheets, and certificates must (1) be sent directly from the school to Wheaton College Admissions Office; (2) bear the original signature of the school official; (3) bear the official school seal. Notarized or certified copies are acceptable.
If your documents are in a language other than English, an official English translation must be provided in addition to the official documents in the original language. Important: You may not submit a translation of the document which has been done by you or a family member.

SECONDARY SCHOOL REPORT
Please download the Secondary School Report (PDF), which must be completed by a school official and submitted with your Secondary School Record. (Freshman applicants only.)
Transfer applicants are required to submit transcripts from all post-secondary institutions, whether or not credit was earned or grades were received. Freshman applicants who have taken or are taking university courses at a post-secondary institution should also submit transcripts. To be considered official, all university transcripts, mark sheets, and certificates must (1) be sent directly from the university to the Wheaton College Admissions Office; (2) bear the original signature of the university official; (3) bear the official school seal. A report from one of your core academic teachers (science, social science, math, foreign language) is required. This should be someone who knows your classroom performance well. Complete Part I of the Academic Recommendation Form (PDF) and give it to your reference person. Ask that the form be returned to you in a signed and sealed envelope, which you will submit with the other supporting documents for your application. Do not open the envelope. Transfers: Your recommendation should come from a university professor or advisor. However, if you are a first year university student, you may submit a recommendation from either a university professor or a core-subject secondary school teacher.
A recommendation from your pastor, youth pastor, Bible study leader, or church official is required. This person should be a mature Christian adult who knows you well and has had the opportunity to observe your spiritual life. This person should not be a relative. Complete Part I of the Pastoral Recommendation Form and give it to your reference person. Ask that the form be returned to you in a signed and sealed envelope, which you will submit with the other supporting documents for your application. Do not open the envelope.
International students are required to submit the International Certification of Finances Form. Please refer to the International Students Page on the Financial Aid website for details.
FOREIGN STUDENT ADVISOR REPORT
(Only required for students currently in U.S. on non-immigrant F-1)
Complete Part A of the FSA report (PDF) and give Part B to the Foreign Student Advisor at the institution you most recently attended.
PROSPECTIVE ART MAJORS ONLY
Students who plan to pursue a degree in Art are encouraged to submit a portfolio of examples of their work in JPEG format on either a CD or DVD. Please label each CD, or DVD image with the title, date, media, and dimensions of the work. For more information, contact the Art Department at 630-752-5050.
Supplemental Information for International Conservatory of Music Applicants
The following additional information and forms are required if you are submitting the Conservatory of Music application. All materials are due to the Admissions Office by the application deadline dates.
MUSIC INFORMATION PROFILE
This form will be included in the online application questions.
Please see the audition instructions. On-campus auditions are strongly recommended, and are required for applicants living within 350 miles of Wheaton. If you live beyond 350 miles, you may submit a recorded audition; please see the instructions.
MUSIC TEACHER RECOMMENDATION
The Music Teacher recommendation (PDF) must come from the teacher of your primary instrument. The instructor completing the recommendation should send it directly to the Admissions Office.
All Conservatory of Music applicants are required to submit a repertoire list of significant works studied in the last four years. You will submit this list electronically during the application process.
There is also an additional portfolio requirement for Composition majors.
