M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy Admissions Requirements

Admission to the M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy is somewhat competitive and requires evaluation of the total applicant pool.

  1. Application Deadline: March 1.
    • Fall enrollment only.
  2. Bachelor's Degree from a Regionally Accredited Institution.
  3. Minimum GPA 3.0.
  4. Twelve Credit Hours of Prerequisites (see below).
  5. Complete Application for Admission.
  6. GRE General Test scores.
  7. Tips for taking GRE
  • Paper -based TOEFL minimum: 600.
  • Internet-based TOEFL minimum: 100
  1. Official Transcripts from all previous colleges or universities attended.
  2. Four Recommendations.
    • Academic.
    • Pastoral (or other Christian leader).
    • Professional (employer).
    • Mental Health Professional (practicing therapist, MFT or Psychology professor with doctorate).

Prerequisites (12 hrs.)

3 hours (1 course) in research methods, research design, or statistics

6 hours (2 courses) in family studies, psychology or allied field
