If a corporation, including the National Merit Corporation, sponsors a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship, Wheaton will instead supplement that scholarship for a combined total of up to $5,000.

Some departments offer merit scholarships.
- One example is the Physics Department which offers four awards per year of $6,250 each (freshmen also eligible).
- Another is the Wheaton Engineering Scholarship awarded by the Physics Department to potential freshmen engineering students.
