 President's Award  Minimum 3.6 unweighted GPA on 4.0 scale, plus 1400 SAT (Critical Reading and Mathematics highest composite score) or 32 ACT minimum  $3,500/year for incoming freshman for fall 2011. ($1,750/semester renewable up to 7 additional semesters)
  • No separate application. 
  • Must take SAT or ACT by January
  • Award notification with acceptance letter.
  • Renewal contingent on maintaining a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
 National Merit Scholarship  National Merit finalists listing Wheaton as first choice college  $5,000 for incoming freshmen for fall 2011 (renewable up to 4 years)  Take PSAT in junior year; student must identify self to Admissions Office as a semi-finalist.
 James E. Burr Scholarship  Freshmen from under-represented minority groups with minimum 3.5 GPA, 25 ACT, 1050 SAT, or in top 20% of class.

 Don and Ann Church Scholarship
 Six incoming African-American students per year; based on scholarship essays and academic standing

 President's Achievement Award
 Freshmen named finalist in the Hispanic Scholar Recognition program or the National Achievement program through the PSAT exam are eligible for this award.  Scholarships are for $1000 per year and may increase to $2000 based on financial need.  For details and application, please see Multicultural Scholarships.
 Special Achievement Award in Music  Students enrolled in Conservatory  $1,000 - $5,000

 Dorothy Dixon Scholarship in Education  Students enrolled in the Education program; based on overall achievement and potential for becoming a teacher  $2,000 minimum per recipient  Recipient selected by Education Department faculty
 Department Scholarships

 Some departments offer merit scholarships.

  • One example is the Physics Department which offers four awards per year of $6,250 each (freshmen also eligible).
  • Another is the Wheaton Engineering Scholarship awarded by the Physics Department to potential freshmen engineering students.
 Amounts vary.
