Applying for Financial Aid for the First Time

Before you begin, please read through the Wheaton College Financial Aid eligibility criteria, familiarize yourself with the types of aid available, and gather the following documents for your application.

1. Determine your eligibility

2. Review types of scholarships and loans

3. Apply for Financial Aid

Documents you will need to apply for aid for 2012-2013:

  • 2011 IRS tax return (preferably completed and filed). We recommend filing your taxes electronically, waiting two weeks to give the IRS time to process your return, and then completing the FAFSA. On the FAFSA, if you are eligible, you can then elect to have your tax data retrieved electronically from the IRS. If in order to meet the February 15 priority deadline, you need to complete the FAFSA using estimated tax information, please do so. Once the actual figures are available, please update your FAFSA information.
  • If you are a U.S. Citizen: Social Security numbers for applicant and parents
  • If you are not a U. S. Citizen: Please see the documents that apply under eligibility.
